1985 Kopke Vintage Port

The cork broke on the middle, very dry. Fill level about mid neck. No sign of leakage at all. Decanted off a ton of thick sediment.
Upon opening, medium deep brick red color, very closed on the nose, smells like old port.

24 hours later: Slightly darker, still "smells like port", but with an earthy aroma. No noticable alcohol, at least no more than normal.
Tastes like cherries and brandy, a little bitter, but still sweet. The aftertaste is a little awkward, it's kinda hollow. Like a layer of heat and sweetness, but nothing in the middle to balance it. No tannins whatsoever. And it has a kind of cellar taste, just a tiny hint of it.

Still, it is enjoyable, but definitely not a big one. It's kinda "meh". Good enough, but lacks the complexity and class I want in a VP, and I'd like it a little bit sweeter. That might have pushed it a bit further. I don't know... 89 points?
