As of April 1st 2008, FTLOP officially moved to a subscription basis and the cost of the newsletter will be $59.00 (U.S. dollars) for 12 calendar months, at least through 2010, if not longer.
As of Dec. 15th, 2009, FTLOP now offers a 3-month Trial Subscription @ $19.00 with auto-renewal, but an "opt-out anytime" feature.

In reality, for the price of one bottle of a current vintage Port you will receive a one year subscription. For the record, there will be 9 guaranteed issues of the For The Love of Port newsletter published in 2010 (produced in a .pdf format which will enable subscribers to print out each edition), although your subscription will be for 12 months from the date your payment is verified. While your subscription directly goes to cover the cost of the newsletter, the following additional perks are included with your subscription:
Roy’s Tasting Notes: Only subscribers to the newsletter will have access to my Port, Madeira and Douro wine tasting note data base, which currently has well over 2,100 TN entries, with nearly 2,500 expected by the end of this year.
FTLOP Subscriber-Only "Buyer's Opportunities": This program began in 2009 and was very successful with offerings by Broadbent Ports & Madeira, Quinta do Crasto, Kopke, Rocha, Quinta do Noval, Quinta da Romaneira and Quinta do Portal. Negotiating directly with importers and agents, on behalf of our subscribers, there was an amazing array of Port, Madeira and Douro wine offered at great prices and in some cases, a single bottle purchased would pay for an entire year's subscription. Nonetheless, this is a not-for-profit way for FTLOP to thank its subscribers, develop further loyalty and add value to subscriptions.
