Now posted on their web site in the Newsletter section, Noval has announced it has produced just 1000 cases of 2004 Vintage Port. Hope to get my hands on a bottle or three....

Just pasting my notes on the '91 Graham's that I posted on the forum: A wine opened to celebrate the birth of my daughter a few months ago. Full-bodied, sweet but not overly so and still some youthful tannin. Plums, raisins and a finish that seems to go on forever. I'm sure this was opened a bit you...

1991 Graham's Vintage Port

I'm still a bit of a novice with Vintage Port (most of my ports are too young to open now), but I thought I'd share my thoughts on the '91 Graham's: A wine opened to celebrate the birth of my daughter a few months ago. Full-bodied, sweet but not overly so and still some youthful tannin. Plums, raisi...

This tidbit in the midst of an email with Richard Mayson, which I am sure he won't mind if I share (this part anyway): Things are rather challenging here this year due to a late burst of extreme heat in late August. I have spoken to a few people in the Douro and, needless to say, I don't think we w...

The forecast for Bordeaux looks pretty dismal according to weather.com. The forecast for Porto, on the other hand, is only for some light rain, which should not be detrimental to the quality. Looking forward to more reports on the 2006 Harvest...birth year of my daughter....

For those who have had both the '91 Graham's and the '91 Vargellas, which would you open now if you had to open one?

Forgive my ignorance on the subject, but do all of the major port producers announce on April 23 whether they intend to declare a Vintage Port from the vintage 2 years prior? Or is it just Taylor? I'm expecting (hoping) for some vintage declarations for 2004 and several single quinta VPs as well.......

Alec,

I have had a bottle of this for several years and, when I saw these sales, I was wondering if I had a bottle of varnish or something. Good to know it's a decent port!

Mario/Alec,

Thanks for the suggestions! Warehouse Wines is one I hadn't heard of.

New York City Retailers

I will be going to NYC for a few days and was hoping to bring back a few bottles of wine with me. I know about a few of the shops there (Sherry-Lehmann, Morrell's), but I'm not sure which shops might be best for vintage port (price, selection, etc). I'd be looking for vintages with some age (1980, '...
