Thanks, all of you, for your thoughts on my book. With a bit of luck it will be out next year so you will be able to see the end result. Which I have to warn you, may just be a wee bit different from what you anticipate... More in due course!! But seriously, I really appreciate your inputs.

Re: US/California ports
Thanks to all of you for your thoughts on this subject. I will check out the website, Roy, and the Papa Paulo site. Even though I am still floundering with my list, what I have learnt is to include the idea that the real-deal is readily available in the US (or just California??), so beginners have C...

Re: US/California ports
Hey Guys, Thanks for all your responses and I obviously didn't make my needs clear. I TRULY understand about the (crazy) naming rules, but what else I am going to call them generically??? Why I'm asking is because I'm writing a book about 'port' for utter beginners and to encourage the American non-...

US/California ports
Hi All, I need help please with identifying the most visible brand names in US ports. I have cobbled together the following list from the internet and really welcome any feedback on its accuracy or omissions. Terminology - help please
Hi Everyone I am writing a book about port but I live in Austraia and I'm ignorant of North American terminology, so if anyone can help that would be appreciated. I know you used to have 'jug' wine? Is this word still in use? Do you have flagons (ie 2liter glass bottles) or flagons (same thing). Wha...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Roy hi Thanks for the welcome and the background. I appreciate the detail, especially from a US perspective because I am totally lacking in that direction. I certainly don't want the port industry to diminish, let alone die, so I'm not going to bang on about. Suffice to say for anyone who does want ...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
Luc hi Thanks for the encouragement. I hear what you say about a 'dying industry' but sadly you only have to look at the stats. Production and export volumes from Portugal have declined drastically over the last 10 years and this has to have been the trigger for the advent of pink port. Same problem...

Re: Lots of new faces ... please introduce yourself
:hello: I'm Anthea and I live in Australia. I've just discovered FTLOP although I have been passionate about port for YEARS! I am an author and Im currently writing a small book about port basics. Not as in the serious detail on your website, but about what to eat with it, how to cook with it, and (...
