Re: What have you opened this week?
The only knock I have against Warre is that usually, their LBV is priced higher than other LBV's (with Sandeman as the exception because Sandeman is always priced high for some reason). Warre's is deserving of the price they ask for their LBV. I would say it's best easily found LBV on the market. [...

Last night celebrating my wife's birthday we had Warre 70.
What a fantastic wine, everything you would expect in a mature VP.

Re: What Portuguese wines have you opened this week
I had a few nice bottles last week with meals with friends: 2023 Quinta dos Varais Branco which was a lovely Douro white with class and showed really well already. 2011 Quinta da Leda is rocking right now. I had three bottles of 2019 Leda a few weeks ago, a glass from each and it will be a future r...

You need to try the 2003 Croft. Perhaps their best in a very long time before that. Andy, being that it's only 21 years old, how is the 2003 Croft drinking? Is it a fruit bomb or is it starting to round out? I have some 2003 in both 750 and half-bottles. Maybe I'll put a half bottle on my list to t...

Re: Basic Portugal recommendations
For a detour with some historic interest, you could visit the town of Evora with its catacombs and historic buildings. Forget beaches in march, it's The Atlantic. If you venture up the Douro, a once in a lifetime tasting could be at Qta do Mourao, I'm pretty sure only your wallet limits which of the...

Re: New box from Quinta do Mourão
I could not agree more with Andy.
It is quite frankly redicoulous how much material is being wasted on packaging, You would think that the producers in the Douro are completely deaf to the discussions on climate.
This is a general problem by the way, not just Q d M

I had this wine last year , and I agree with you that it needs a massive decant or another 4-6 years in the cellar.

Re: Can I ask for your help, please
From a personal point of view, I find the lack of pricing on the website very anoying.
Obviously I know you and have met you on several occasions in Odense, so it wouldn't be a problem, but if that wasn't the case I would probably just go looking for other organisers that lets me compare prices.

Generally speaking, your wine should be sweeter than the dessert.Eric Menchen wrote: ↑Tue Nov 26, 2019 9:12 pm 1995 D'Oliveiras Colheita Madeira (medium dry) is the current plan.
How will this pair with desserts?
So, if you have tried the wine before, you should be able to decide if it will work.
