Re: Newbie intro and a question
Wow Godfrey,...indeed it's great to have you respond. Yes I enjoyed your book thoroughly. I buy the wines from supermarkets, as I've not ventured into VP territory yet. They're air-conditioned, so far I've not had any disasters. Certainly welcome you to drop me a note when you visit Singapore, no pr...

Tawnies and Colheita
Hi Andy, indeed there's a lot to learn for me. So is it safe to assume they can generally be served from the bottle without additional filtration/straining?
Now I have to open my bottle of 1998 Niepoort Colheita to find out if there're sediments inside! :)

Keng Yong

Re: What have you opened this week?
With much anticipation, I've just opened my first bottle of Graham's Six Grapes. Very dark red, like's Welch's grape juice. Nose is of very fresh grapes and alcohol. Taste is surprisingly light and smooth in spite of the sweetness, tannin and acid showing through. To me the structure is simply of gr...

Re: Newbie intro and a question
Hi Moses, Typically supermarkets carry the usual Ruby, Tawny and LBVs from the well known names like Graham, Dow, Fonseca and Warre. A bottle of Graham's Six Grapes goes for about $50 USD and Warre's Warrior $39 USD, so it's not cheap here. Vintage port can be found in some wine shops but not sure o...

Newbie intro and a question
Hi Everyone! [imnewhere.gif] Ok, I've been caught red-handed for lurking by Roy and some introductions are in order. :D I'm very new to drinking port, having had only had a taste here and there but I'm partial to it. It so happened that I also chanced upon a book called "The Port Companion"...
