Re: 2011 Vargellas Clarification

Well, it's a bit of a long story but I am the proud owner of two bottles of Vargellas.... Vinha Velha. As evidenced in the pictures below. [yahoo.gif] The price quoted, $75, was a mistake. It took two people plus a call to the guy who quoted me to figure that much out. We were both a little tipsy (r...

Re: 2011 Vargellas Clarification

Well, looks like I'm buying all three. I'll go back tonight and let you all know if that price sticks. I'm certain it was labelled as Vinhas Velha, hence my confusion when they said there was another one coming.

2011 Vargellas Clarification

Visited a trusted local wine store and noticed 3 bottles of 2011 Vargellas Vinha Velha going for around $75Cdn apiece. When I asked for the price they mentioned that I may see another bottle on the shelves soon - a 2011 Vargellas made with "Old Vine" grapes that would ring in in the mid-$2...

Not to mention the random bottle of n.v. Taylor's audi...

"Three perspectives on port... advice?

Hello all, [imnewhere.gif] Here's a game - if a relatively uninitiated port drinker (me) were to ask you to pick three bottles (to drink now) that explained the broad range of port, what three would you pick and why? I know it's a bit unfair to expect a TOTAL port experience but I'm curious how you ...

'66 dreams vs. '65 purchase

Hey all, amazing community you've got here. I'm interested in the thoughts of the further-initiated... I've always liked Port. That is, until I had the '66 Messias Colheita. It was an awakening, a redefinition of what taste could be. Now I love port. Drama aside, it's also how I came the realization...
