There has been a lot over the past two weeks I was in Portugal. Some highlights were (not all from my cellar);

1931 Quinta do Noval VP
1948 Graham's VP
2002 Calem Colheita (very good young-ish tawny)
1947 Dow's VP
1872 Bom Retiro VP
1884 Andresen VP
1920 Taylor's VP
1957 Kopke Colheita
1985 Calem VP

There were many more fantastic bottles so it was not easy to narrow down to a handful, but these stood out for different reasons.

Which was your highest rated out of that list? And the Calem '85 was really that good?

Hard to say. They were all quite close to each other. But I’d probably have to give props to the G48.

I can’t recall ever having the ‘85 Calem before and was quite surprised at how youthful and good it was.

2016 Quinta de la Rosa LBV
Tech sheet says its "Lightly Filtered" but it still leaves a thin deposit. Unusually, it comes in a clear glass Colheita-type 0.5L bottle with T-stopper.

Not too complex or sweet, and quite hot, but this is mighty enjoyable.
Not really for aging, a great little newbie LBV.

Very, very nice. One of the best bottles in recent memory for me.

A while ago I had an inkling that 1983 might be a better year than 1985, and it was due to a comparison between the two Grahams. As much as I really, really love the 1985 Graham, I continue to believe that the 1983 might actually end up being longer-lived. It may not reach the peak lusciousness that the 1985 has had for quite a while, but it just feels like a sturdier and longer-lasting Port.

I prefer the '83 Graham's to the '85. It just seems to have a little more complexity to it.

Pop n' poured the Conceito by Barbeito White Port last night and left it in the fridge overnight. My first white Port ever I think.

My initial impression yesterday was that I like white wine better because the alcohol was more pronounced relative to rubies.

Not sure what is an appropriate decant time for these white ports....

It's really nice today after getting some air - sweet, balanced and Riesling-esque. Smooth with some floral notes and not as alcoholy today.

edit, followed up this week with:
Quinta do Portal Fine White Port

Great apple cider aroma and fresh apple taste. Amber colored. Well structured and at least on par with the more expensive Conceito. Goes great on the rocks too and amazing QPR at $17/750ml.

This port has a long way to go. I had similar results the last time I tried one.

Krohn 20 year old, from the old dumpy bottle. Bottled 2011. Perhaps not the intensity of newly bottled, but still very enjoyable.

Tonight having a local friends over for Potuck supper, Port, Scotch and hopefully lively conversation. I have standing a 1983 Dows (A very nice Port that seems to fly under the radar--consistently around 92-94 points for me) and a 2000 Broadbent LBV. If needed, a 20 Year Quevedo or 30 Year San Leonardo White.
