Snapshot TN: reserves

Post by Tom Archer »

Have just sampled three Reserve ports (AKA premium ruby)

1) Taylor First Estate

2) Warre Warrior

3) Delaforce Paramount

No time for detailed appraisal, but consensus view was:

Taylor - rough as hell - very poor - Tesco own brand ruby (AKA El cheapo) is probably better!

Warre - fruity to excess - do they add MSG?? - otherwise OK

Delaforce - A winner by a mile. Smooth and gluggable. Was this really a cheap bottle??

Tom - why?

OK, I've tried some too. I think Warrior is pretty acceptable. Taylor's finest is rough. Fonseca Bin 27 is bloody awful and finally, any Cockburn's Reserve is appalling.
I'm telling you - Port is from Portugal.
