Niepoort - Quinta do Passadouro VP 03?

Post by Jose Vouillamoz »

Hi all,
Does someone know if Quinta do Passadouro managed by Niepoort will release a 2003 Vintage Port? I haven't seen any in TN. Thanks, José Vouillamoz

Hi José,
No Passadouro VP for 2003, unfortunately - I believe due to the split between Niepoort and Bohrmann around that time. 2004 will be released though - and it's tasty!

Thanks for the link, Fred, but it does not talk about 2003. Sven, thanks for the information, I'd say unfortunately. I was at Quinta do Passadouro in october 2003 and I took part in foot-treading the grapes with Dirk Niepoort. That's why I wanted to spot a few bottles Passadouro VP 03. But since Dirk was taking care of the harvest, in which wine did it go???
V. best, José

I'm not sure José. IIRC, Niepoort was technically the owner of the wine, so it might have ended up in the Niepoort 2003 VP. However, this is just a guess on my part.

Well, I did the best thing to do and I have emailed Dirk who kindly and very promptly answered me: the Quinta do Passadouro grapes went into the Secundum VP 2003. I guess I'll have to buy a bunch of that one since my feet went in it...
Very best

You'd better hurry then! Production was very small (only about 300 cases I believe). Therefore it isn't even being imported into the Netherlands.
