Maps of the Douro
I have been searching for a large map, that i want to frame and put on the wall, of the Port areas of Portugal. I have seen many of Napa, Bordeaux, etc., but none of the port areas.
Does anyone know where I can get one?

Here is the very coolest map of the Douro ... although you won't be able to frame it ... but how great is this? I have loved using it and wish I could incorporate this into the homepage here ... but know that I can't.

Roy,
that is the coolest map I have ever seen. It even has the Quintas listed, how cool is that.
Ronnie,
How about finding those maps somewhere here in the US. I've even been checking the internet and have not had good luck.

Sounds like a good excuse to go there, but, alas, I cant for a bit. I just started a new job and don't have enough vacation time. Guess it will have to wait a bit

Maps of Douro Region
Roy, and Friends,
You never cease to amaze me with the knowledge you all have of things related to this region !!!
And yes, your favourite map is really nice... and also an old map of the river, used in public schools many, many, years ago .... A reproduction was made some years ago , a two-faced map with comments in portuguese & english. and it happens that I have a few at the Association. So, if anyone is interested I can send it by post, just need the addresses to where they should be sent.
Or, better still, if anyone gets to my shop mentioning this fantastic forum, will get it for free .... Roy, maybe on your next trip ???

Maria,
I will make a point of visiting your shop when in Oporto in May, with the folks joining us for the trip! That was very sweet of you to offer maps to the ppl here. I am assuming it also shows the location of the quintas?
There is one place in the USA that offers maps like that and it is a good frined of mine that also took part in a previous trip to Portugal in 2003.

Map of Douro
Fred,
The shop is located on the old walls of the city, two gates facing the right margin of the river just in front of all the big exporters of Port Wine. But also has an entrance by a dark little narrow street called Fonte Taurina, in Ribeira, near the Casa do Infante. Here the first entrepôt (warehouses) were established to redistribute the Port wine, centuries ago, before they all moved to the other side of the river due to a complicated story regarding taxes and bishops ....
This shop sells only products from the members of the Association of Producers/Bottlers of Port and Douro wines (Avepod); mainly small productions but good, very good qualities !!! Welcome anytime you come to Porto and feel like tasting some other than the "cult" wines ...
Roy,
Although you may see and recognize some os the quintas (or houses) on the map they are not mentioned by name; only the towns & villages are shown and a brief description of main monuments to be seen in each of them. But you can see them, it is very funny!! Here in Porto I can even see my house on the side of the river !!!
Will be looking forward, and very happy to receiving you in May, the house is yours from 11 am to 18 hours, for visiting, tasting, eating, listening to music or just resting between an imaginable tight schedule !! Thank you !!
