It's 75-80F in my back garden today and I've spent a lot of time catching up with some of the projects that I've had ongoing. Desperately in need of something enjoyable to drink, I put a half bottle of Skeffington 2009 in the fridge and have just popped and poured. It is delicious! Dense and fruity and really cold. Yum!!

It has been about the same in my back garden, and garage, for the past few days. Yesterday I noticed that one of my four wine fridges in the garage seems to have lost its temperature control at some point in the recent past. The fridge was packed with half bottles of Croft 2004 LBV. I opened one yesterday, which was cooked. I opened another this evening

I hope these were bad bottles, otherwise I will be doing lots of Port based cooking for the remainder of 2012

1983 Smith Woodhouse VP, 375ml. Cork was in better shape and it smells fresher than the last bottle from this purchase.

I'd love to get my hands on a bottle of this, but with the amount BBR charges to ship to the US, on top of the already high price of this bottle, it's just not going to happen.

Its raining at 10C today - perfect for the Jubilee celebrations. What could be more British than carrying on despite the rain.

So today I have open a half bottle of Cavadinha 1987.

1985 Gould Campbell Vintage Port for dinner with Carl and Phyllis. It was fabulous! Really glad I snagged a 6-pack of this recently.

This past Saturday the 9th we opened a:

Porto Rocha Extra Dry White Port
Porto Rocha 3 Centuries Port

These were had as the begining and ending of our "Big Red Taste Off" comprising of 5 CA Cabs from Oakville. The taste off portion of the night being another double blind tasing. All in all it was 8 bottles of wine for 8 people.

I think we may have converted a non-Port drinker over to the dark side

that night, and we didn't even have to pull out the BIG guns.
