Old Port selection in Christie's Nov 12th auction

Post by Mark L »

Just got a catalog in the mail for Christie's Nov 12, 13 auction (Geneva).

with regards to madeira, very interesting! a 1792 blandy's solera, among other treasures in about 17 lots

with regards to port, WOW! 1808, 1812, 1815, 1820, etc etc.... about 130 lots that go UP to 1963. Not sure how the older ones would taste, ultimately, but for me a fascinating watch nonetheless.

Now if only my MegaMillions ticket will come thru for me this week.... (or for anyone on FTLOP, for that matter!)

Yeap, noticed that this morning. This collector must have had a remarkable selection. The quantity of 19th C. Ports was stunning to peruse. Sadly, I have a feeling that the person selling these bottles is the wife or benefactor of a collector that almost certainly died recently. Sadly. But what a collection!
Ambition driven by passion, rather than money, is as strong an elixir as is Port. http://www.fortheloveofport.com
