Selling 12 bottles of Grahams 1991 Vintage Port

Hello there,
First of all hope everyone has had a good new year so far and had a good Christmas.
I was given a case of 12 bottles of 1991 Graham's vintage port when I was born; I am now at university and rather in need of some extra money as most cash strapped students are. Occasionally I like to drink port but at the moment unfortunately money is a little more important! The case has never been opened and been stored in a cool, dark cellar the right way up for the entirety of it's life.
I'm not looking to make a huge profit and am willing to give it away at a lower price in return for a quick and easy sale.

A couple of questions that most people would like to know and which affect its value. And this will aid in selling your Port
Where are you located?
What do you mean by "stored the right way up?"
Where was the cellar it was stored in located?
You will need to open the case and when done, are any bottles leaking? What is the fill levels?, any corks pushing up?

In the USA retail is around the $60-70 range for reputable shops. The price is probably going to be much cheaper in the UK or other parts of Europe where VP's sells for less (less shipping costs, no 3-tier system for selling, etc).

This Port can be found online for $60/bottle in the US, which is usually a pretty good indicator of its value. That said, a private sale (either direct or via auction) rarely nets the seller anywhere close to retail value. A good rule of thumb is 50%, or $30/bottle in this case. You might be able to do better than that if you spend some time shopping your case around to various stores, but it probably isn't worth the effort.

Retail typically gives a 15-20% discount for purchase of a full case, but that's usually not relevant in a private sale. So you're looking at probably $350-$400 for the case in the US.

Prices in the UK are typically lower, often significantly lower. I'm just guessing, but I suspect you'd be very lucky to clear £200 for the case in the UK.

Note that this all assumes top-quality. You'll need to answer Andy's questions in order for us to be able to determine whether or not you're likely to get top prices.

I am located in London, UK.
The bottles have been stored in an original wooden case on their side.
The corks are all still as normal and the fill levels are all normal, there is no leaking.
The cellar has been in London, UK. Temperature variations are minimal.

In the UK, prices at retail range from a low of $50 (USD ... you can figure the conversion) to $72. So pick a mid-point and that's your avg. retail price in UK. You can then see what people are going to be willing to pay and you may consider that it is worth keeping these wines and look to sell something else to raise funds for school or whatever. These Ports will be delicious by the time you have money in your pocket and can look back and realize how fortunate you were that you did NOT sell them. That being said, if you must ... well, you must.
