I have owned one mag of 1966 Graham's for many years, now I own two. I'd likely drink the bottle just purchased, first.

Grabbed a bottle of Dow 2002 Crusted Port at a local supermarket. I didn't even look to see what the price was.

I got 6 x 375m bottles of 2007 Smith Woodhouse VP at $18.88 each. I really like SW general style and figured I can't go wrong at that price--plus 1/2 bottles are so convenient if its just me.

Good buy. I love 1/2 bottles for when I just want a little bit. I bought a bunch of 1/2's of 2005 Niepoort VP's this year for that reason. But after a few bottles the fruit is now starting to close up. I need to find another young VP in halves to replace it until this phase passes.

If only the Costco stores in our area had this - I'd buy a case or two! My favorite 20 by a good margin.

I did buy another two cases of Ferreira 20 the other day. One for home; the other for Gang of Port.
We have found that it improves for the first three days or so after opening (and drinking down to the "shoulder"). Then it "plateaus" with a very slow decline over the next three weeks or so (if it lasts that long - sometimes we have two or three bottles opened to allow side-by-side drinking of different "ages"). Then it declines for a while, never becoming unpleasant or wrong, but gradually less interesting. Other tawnys have different aging profiles, including some that seem best within minutes or hours of opening.

the 2000 Fonseca is one of my top VP's of the vintage, along with Niepoort which when done alone side by side (blind) with DIrk Niepoort here in 2003 ... the large majority of us ... picked the Niepoort and it had nothing to do with his presence.
Peter, you are such a Port geek, but I say that in the most fond way. Love the attention to detail in your post. Glad you have taken to the 20 year old Duque which I have yaked about incessantly for years. It certainly is rather different than the more caramelized flavors of your old standby, Warre's Nimrod. I miss the days when at least once to twice a week you'd post something that had the word Nimrod in there. Kind of like Luc G. and his penchant for Peanut Butter and Jelly in most posts.
