The 30 years old Ramos Pinto for 60 EUR looks quiet cheap in comparision. Unfortunately, they do not offer the 20 years old Ramos Pinto

. Delaforce, His Eminence Choice is about 19 EUR in Germany , still more than my Ferreira.
The 30 years old Ramos Pinto for 60 EUR is pretty cheap indeed. That one should blow you away for something special.
Delaforce, His Eminence Choice for 19 EUR is worth checking out. I enjoy the real vanilla and dried fruits considering it's just a 10 year. After all, it's the "His Eminence Choice" and I bet "He" could choose whatever "He" wants, lol...

But also the lower personel knows well. One of my dealers for Vouvray told me that a huge amount of the Vouvray from the Domaine du Aubusières (Le Marigny, Les Girardières) he offers (for decent 8 EUR) is bought by german churches for the mass . One church made the begin and now he delivers 4 or 5 churches. Not that bad, several times a day a nice Vouvray! A kind of employee gratification perhaps.

I did buy a trio of Delaforce 1991 Quinta Corte. At 54$, finally SAQ did give us some savings.... First bottle is slightly oxydized though... no savings with great value I guess

Can you return it?

Found a new wine store not to far from me that has a good Portuguese selection. So I picked up a 2008 Quinta de Azevedo Vinho Verde for $8 and a 2003 Quinta de Ventozelo LBV (unfiltered) $11/375ml. Had both last night...TN's to follow.

I would not expect much from Quinta de Ventozelo LBV. I bought that more than once only to remember I did not like much the previous time... A mistake repeated several times... I look at the price and just throw in the shopping basket...

Moses,
Check out my TN. The 2003 LBV was quite nice.

This week, to celebrate three full months on the new job, I purchased a Qunita de Ventozelo 1998 LBV, which turned out very nice... very nice indeed. Also a "house" Niepoort Ruby which is a fan favourite (if the fan is me!)
Oh, and hello again! I know... it has been FAR too long. Hopefully this new job will allow me to have a lot more time to visit around here more often.

1994 Vesuvio for $41. At that price I couldn't resist and bought it all. I keep buying this Port... but I think this will be my last purchase. Awesome wine!

That's an excellent price! Was that at auction, or one of your overseas purchases?

I've found the Delaforce His Eminence Choice for $8.00 at a local wine shop, of course I purchased quite a few! Recently, I also picked up some 1991 Quinta Corte for $25.00 - both purchases seemed like no-brainers. For whatever reason I seem to have found quite a few deals on Delaforce lately.

A lot of big stores have to dump wines from distributors to make way for the next years supply. I see port at good prices in the bin ends here in the summer.

Yes, this was an overseas purchase (wholesale). I bought 3 cases (that's 36 bottles). Yeah... a bit excessive, but this was less than I paid on release 13 years ago. My reasoning? Is there such a thing as owning too much 1994 Vesuvio? ...... I didn't think so.

Moses,
In fact a large supermarket chain now has Taylor 2001 & 2003 LBV for $11.00/bottle. The store manager said that they were now discontinued and they needed the space for their new orders.

Thanks! I'm happy about it, but my wife isn't. I'll have to cut back on something else.
Yes, with shipping it's still a great deal IMHO. Shipping and all taxes, duty, etc adds $10 a bottle.

I'd be happy to take 6 or 12 off your hands if it would help keep your wife happy. Purely to help keep your home life blissful, of course.
