Attended an excellent, entertaining, informative and fun Taylor's Masterclass last night (so oficially opened 0 bottles

) at one of the better wine/port shops in the south-west (of the Netherlands)

.
This Masterclass was presented by Luis Carneiro of Taylor's (Export manager for Western Europe), who held a great presentation during the tasting of 4 flights of Taylor's ports.
We started of with the classic (summer) coctail of Chip dry white port w tonic, ice and some lime. After that, we started our tasting.
Flight 1:
- Taylor's Fine White;
- Taylor's First Estate;
- Taylor's LBV 2008.
Flight 2:
- Taylor's 10 yo Tawny;
- Taylor's 20 yo Tawny.
Flight 3:
- Quinta de Vargellas 1982 VP;
- Quinta de Terra Feita 1996 VP;
- Quinta de Vargellas 2001 VP;
- Quinta de Terra Feita 2001 VP.
Flight 4:
- Quinta de Vargellas 2005 VP;
- Quinta de Vargellas 2008 VP;
- Taylor's 2000 VP;
- Taylor's 2011 VP.
Needless to say it was a great evening and a very nice experience to get to taste these different Taylor's ports and to have the chance to listen to Louis and be able to ask all we wanted to know about this great porthouse.
So many thanks to Mr Louis Carneiro again!!

What did you think of the T 00?
Wondering how it may be showing at this juncture.

Nice Port, tannins fully integrated, still quite fruity, secondary flavours start to emmerge, would wait another 5 years to get more complexity. Got some light metallic flavours I don't dig, beside that, balanced and smooth, quite enjoyable!

It really was indeed!!
The T00 was great to taste. A lot of power in it, lots of red fruits, spices, peppery but all are very much compact, as if everything is locked up and trying to get out. My conclusion was great port, lots of potential, but very closed right now. And it had been decanted for at least 8-9 hours I was told.

Gerwin,
sounds like a great time for sure. When you get a chance, do post your impressions or notes on them. Would love to read what you though of them.
