Why don't more people visit movie theaters anymore?

For things that don't fit into the other categories.

To answer the title question, because they make me wear glasses just to watch the movies these days!

ARRRGH.

Just saw a free (Acura hosted) preview of Thor. Movie was pretty good... 3D not so much. It wasn't bad, but it also didn't enhance the experience at all for me and I was forced to wear those "Real-D 3D" glasses the whole movie. For someone who doesn't wear glasses, having to wear them creates eye strain. 3D also creates eye strain. You can probably guess where this is headed...

There is one additional reason that I don't feel inclined to go to regular theaters any more: I've been watching movies at home for so long (used to be a heavy smoker) that I am no longer fit company in a commercial theater. I just talk too much!

I comment on things to whoever is with me; laugh at inappropriate times (like bad dialogue or bad acting - you're only supposed to laugh at the actual jokes, I guess); and any number of behaviors calculated to get me either Shusshhed or thrown out.

BTW, I'm baaaack! Wednesday, I went into hospital to have a small cancer removed from my left kidney. Complete success, according to Doc, and much faster than expected recovery. I still have 31 staples running 10" across my left side, but I'm already ambulatory, off all pain meds and back at home [d_training.gif] , where I can keep up with things like FTLOP without fighting the hospital's lousy Wi-Fi system.

Peter,
Glad to hear your surgery went well. I wish you continued quick healing and complete wellness.
Blessed are we who can laugh at ourselves, for we shall never cease to be amused.

Astonishingly well. Off all pain meds within four days of the surgery. The problem is to keep me from overdoing things (like lifting more than 10 pounds) for another week or so. (I had to get a friend in to help with lifting cases in order to get my wine inventory up-to-date.) I suppose a 10" incision needs time to heal, but I FEEL great.

(Staying on topic: could this be another reason why I am not in theaters? Recovering from surgery? )
