We wound up with only 12 people turning out for our event, and I was "concerned" after sitting along for the first hour until three people I have never met before, showed up. One turned out to be Ryan Lurie who was the person behind the 35 cases of 1977 VP that were all sold during the "subscriber's buying op" a few months back. We had another two people who have never been to any local events, so it was great that 5 of the 12 people we did have show up were new to our areas Port tastings. 14 bottles of Port in all for the 12 of us kept us there until just after ten at night. A very cohesive grouping of Ports from six different categories of Port. I could never have even planned this to work out so well if I tried.
Our POTN was clearly the 1977 Fonseca that Ryan brought. It was a leaker and still was remarkable considering it was only open 3 hours when we started to drink it. When first opened and poured into decanter, it was a light pink color but I have to say that by the time we drank it, it was a medium-dark garnet color ... which in that amount of time was an amazing metamorphosis. Everyone was blown away, most of all the person who brought the bottle, by the color change. It was absolutely delicious.
Thanks to everyone there and especially to Glenn for bringing the baguettes and spreadables.![Toast [cheers.gif]](./images/smilies/cheers.gif)
