This time, a Niepoort... Coroa, which is their old 30YO Tawny. Probably bottled in the 60s.
That's a beautiful looking bottle.
A mail from Niepoort Vinhos, tells me the Port was bottled on the 19. of december 1962.
Lets hope the Coroa is still alive and kicking

I managed to get a friend to pick up 2 x 1985 Smith Woodhouse VT at a small grocery store that had them on sale for a whopping 59 USD a piece. This is now the oldest VT I own.

Also had him pick up 2 x 2004 Dalva Colheitas as well.

A great price on a very good port, one which you can drink today or easily leave for another 10-20 years.

1 more 1970 Graham's. The last one from this source (all were ex-cellars and pristine).

No 2011 Mads? I saw they had that one as well or it wasn't part of the discount offering?

Cheers Al. I do get a sense that SWH tend to appear younger in character compared to its actual age? So as you say it should definitely be able to hang out in my cellar for a decade or two, if I manage to keep my hands off them in the meantime. The trouble buying VT is that you should really always buy 6 or 12 bottles, then there is better room for tasting as time passes by, If you only have 2 samples well then... [beg.gif]

It was only on offer for 12 at a time, and not as great a offer as the others. It is one of the few bottles you can get cheaper elsewhere. So far it has scored a little lower than the other and even before I ordered the others, I am OUT of space for more, so they will end up stacked on top of another box of port that is not yet unpacked :)

Bought it online from skovgaardvine.dk

Another 6 bottles of 2003 Fonseca VP (the online "after-sales" auction, from the auction where I got the first 6-pack. The second 6-pack came a little cheaper even @ €42,50 / bottle (including buyers premium and shipping (2,50 a bottle) included). A fair price I think :D
