1 bottle of Taylor's 2003 LBV at $19.99
I had planned to open this last night, but I got distracted by a bottle of 1937 Noval Colheita. Amazing stuff!

Re: What Port(s) have you purchased this week?
As a new member, I have been lurking, and becoming progressively more inspired by Roy, Andy, and members of this board to explore more recent vintages of VP. I was offered this week a small number of 1980 VPs which had been cellared since release, when I arrived at his cellar to purchase his Burgundy collection. When he asked which bottles I would like to taste, to assess the integrity of his collection, he assumed that I would only want to try several of his old burgs. But having read some notes on this board about how the 80s VPs were performing, I talked him into opening an 80 Graham. I was literally blown away with the intensity and complexity of fruit in this wine, the entire vintage of which I had ignored from release to this point. I bought all of his 1980s, which included 6 Grahams, 7 Taylor Fladgate, and 9 Fonseca. Average price was $60 a bottle. Would never have looked twice at them in his cellar if it wasn't for the enthusiasm on this board.

John,
Welcome to FTLOP, it is great to have you join us and be a part of the fun loving Port fans that post or lurk here (we prefer those that post
but lurkers are welcome too!).
I hope we get to meet one of these days. I'll be returning to your area in early February and will see if I get a free night to do some Port fun. In the mean time you should hook up with Eric Menchen who is another
'er as he is from CO too.
Your Port purchases from 1980 sound great (although Andy and I agree on the Fonseca) and I am sure you'll enjoy your great bottles. Would love to hear about the old Burgs too, but you can recount that story whilst we share some fine old bottles of Port.
Please do share your impressions on the bottles you open!
Best regards and again,
!
