Last week with Moses(and his better half) and Luc in Montreal we had 1985 Fonseca, great of course and a very nice 1982 Kopke Colheita.

2003 Taylor LBV. Down to my last few bottles, and still drinking very well. Smooth and silky, fruit (cherry) dominating. Nice medium finish. Will be sorry to see these go. I wish they were not bottled with a t-cork. I would love to hang onto one of these for another 10-15 years to see how they are. I may try it anyway ...

Once again Ramos Pinto showes great potential.
And 1880-1930 Jubilee.

Not the longest aftertaste, But sweet, soft and smooth.

And look at the colour! Bright as appeljuice...

To celebrate my upcomming hollidays, this weekend is going to be crazyyyyy.
Saturday: My Girl and me...+ 2 good friends: One bottle of the 1964 Vintage from DOW's (a Danish bottlng)
Sunday: My Girl and me...+ daugther and boyfriend: One bottle of the 1937 'Vintage' from Shepherd 's and on
Monday: My Girl and me...* daugther, best Buddy and son: One bottle of Niepoort VV and one bottle of the 1942 Vintage from Niepoort....
Tuesday: My Girl and me...2 glasses of water.

I will try to post tastningnotes along the way.

Odd bottle for the 1964 Dow's. What's the strip label over the top? Is it a Selo or a tax stamp or something else? Does it say where it was bottled at?

The 1964 DOW's Vintage is now decanted....
Facts and funny:
1) Bottled and labeled in Denmark
2) In a champagne bottle
3) With a T-stopper
4) lots of crust
5) Big Nose, and round and deep taste (just after opening)

The picture of the wineglas is taken through the bottle. Just to show the green and brightness of the bottle
The pictures are in low resolution (ftlop-standard).

Interesting indeed. Odd that a VP is using a t-cork and labeled with a label from an Oporto bottled VP. I've seen Dow's Colheita's bottled in a flared bottom bottle, never a VP. Do you know the story behind who bottled it, when, and why in that bottle?

I found this while searching for an old thread on Dow's. This is Dan Carbon's reply to a question about a never-really-seen-before 1970 Dow's Bomfim. Dan used to work for the Sym's. It might be of interest to you and others....

"The answer to Henrik’s question is very straight forward, right - we do not bottle the quinta wine in a declared year, so there are no years with both. Logically, that makes sense, but this is the Port trade and there are always exceptions, and this is one.

The Symingtons had a long-standing relationship their Danish importer, one dating back to Maurice Symington and passing on to James Symington, Rupert’s father. In a handful of years, they were given a very small allocation of the quinta wine, normally reserved for family only and not made in every year.

There are not heaps of records to be found, but it appears that this happened during a 10 or so year stretch starting in the late 60’s. It is more difficult than you might expect to determine exactly which years but as soon as I have that info I will post it here. This was a very special arrangement, and one that has long since stopped. It does, however, represent another of the many intriguing aspects of the world of Port."

I probably won't be able to cobble together a note from the group event but it showed very fruity and simply, but very well. Still in the buy stage for sub $40-50
