Am not surprised at the short post-decant life - when not corked it can be a lovely, very more-ish port :)

1985 Graham from an OWC. 2nd bottle from case, but can't remember where or when I drank the first one. Either way, floral nose, quite juicy and with smooth spirit. 93 points.

Just opened a Mz70, currently decanting and smelling fabulous :)

Krohn 30-yr old
1994 Vesuvio Vintage Port

Both were excellent! The Vesuvio paired really well with a chocolate mousse and tart cherry dessert.

Have had both this year as well. The Krohn is excellent but the Vesuvio is just amazing. At least for my palate.

One of my barbecue friends was doing a "practice cook" for the Jack Daniel's World Championship Invitational, which is in two weeks. "The Jack" uses a slightly different schedule than the competitions out here in the Pacific Northwest, so he wanted to practice it at least once to make sure everything would work. Since I typically take a bottle to competitions, I thought it'd be fun to have a couple bottles at the party too.

Warres 1975 vintage

Decanting a magnum of 1977 Taylor's Vintage Port for this evening, as a friend is having a birthday party. I bought this a quarter of a century ago, in 1991. Smells great for now.

By far and away the best bottle of 1977 Taylor I've had in the past couple of year. Likely because I've had this in my own cellar for 25 years and also not hurt by being in magnum. This was opened for my friend Eric LeVine's surprise birthday party last night. I remember in 2005, I held a great Port tasting for 15 friends and during the middle of that event, Eric stopped tasting and got on his cell phone and ordered a case of the 1977 Taylor, that's how much he loved what was in front of him. Last nights mag was every bit as good and at least as dark. Shockingly dark compared to the last five or six I've been a part of.

Tonight's dinner party:

1985 Cockburn's and 1970 Taylor VPs for after dinner slurps.

1985 Rocha Colheita, bottled 1995. All I can say at this point is that it is a new experience for me.

My birthday is approaching so I opened a bottle of Sibio (from Real Vinicola) 1963 VP. Not bad; there are better VP's from 1963 but I'm enjoying sipping it.

1991 Warres VP. I just got a bunch of these and one was a leaker (knew it when purchased). Well, it started to leak more so I stood it up for a day then opened it. Really lovely--not overly complex but a nice, mature raspberry strawberry flavor, a tad sweet and very odoriferous. Will post TN later.
