Walking around Porto and found some interesting things.

Niepoort Presidente at 56 euros and Niepoort 20yo bottled in 1984 at 46 euros.. Cheaper than the current release of a 20yo!

Then also bought Andresen 2011. In my top 3 when I tasted all the 2011 and could not found it after release. Also got one of their 1975 Colheita.

2013 Quinta da Gaivosa LBV. With tax paid $35.18 for it--highest I've ever paid for an newer LBV (I did pay $36 for an 1981 Ferriera about 5 years ago). Odd as today I am expecting a box with mixed bag of things, 4 of which are four 1995 VPs I paid $37/bottle for, delivered.

Ouch, that's pricey for an LBV.

Nice!!
i received it yesterday. it wasn't an auctionhouse that has any experience with wines so it was a bit of a guess.
on the picture you can see the fill level where i put a little piece of tape and you can see some discoloring on the selo (both sides of the bottle.

should i worry?

It has leaked. Also the pushed up cork indicates heat damage. For the price worth it most likely, but most likely won't show as well as a well stored one.

the cork is actually flush with the glass. heat damage would surprise me in Belgium. but it sounds like i shouldn't wait to long anymore to drink it.. :winepour:

From the pic it does look as though the cork pushed up a little. Perhaps someone pushed it back down, who knows. And heat damage can happen anywhere. Leave it in a car in the sun, by a warm stove, on a shelf in the window, turn the heat up in the house all winter, etc. And who's to say that bottle spent all it's life in Belgium?

BTW, I resized your pics to make viewing easier.

i agree it looks like that, but it feels like that 'double' edge is very solid. anyway, i'll see it when i open it.

2011 Taylor Vintage Port "Vinha Velha" , 3 bottle OWC. Looked too cool to pass up. I doubt I will ever drink them. [help.gif] Wasn't that expensive either.

Bought last August but have only just taken possession.

A near pristine Hunt's (Hunt Roope on the foil) VOV - Very Old Vintage Character - in a squat bottle with T stopper. No selo, so presumably English bottled.

Label design and the presence of some base glass marking make me think this is probably mid sixties. Although the company was sold to Ferreira in 1956, I'm guessing the brand continued to be used after that.

Very rare to find 'ordinary' full bottles from this era..

Love those old squat bottles from a visual and a design point of view. As a collector hate them, they don't stack or store well. Lol
