I went to the Ironbound section of Newark this afternoon, which has a large Portuguese population. I stopped at a few Portuguese liquor stores and picked up 1 each of the following:
2000 Quinta do Infantado LBV
Burmester 20 yo Tawny
1980 Andresen Colheita
1995 Andresen LBV
2007 Andresen VP
2004 Kopke Colheita
1991 Delaforce LBV
1995 Taylor Quinta De Vargellas SQVP
2000 Croft VP

Yes. Lou's, Oporto's and Lisbon's. I'll have to check my receipts to see which were from where.

1x 2011 Quinta do Vesúvio Capela
Sent from my SM-A205U using Tapatalk
Very nice! I saw a 3 pack of this in my travels yesterday. Next time I'm in that store I'll have to see what they're asking for it. Big $$$ I'm sure.
Vesúvio Capela usually isn't as expensive as Graham's Stone Terraces or Vargellas Vinha Velha, so I would expect them to be around $150 each.
I was back in that store today and I was mistaken. What I thought were 2011's were actually 2007's, the inaugural offering. They were asking $300 for a set of 3 including the OWC. I'm going to think about it.

Interesting. That's the bottle from my "later" bottles, but the back label from my 2008 bottle. My guess is that maybe my "later" bottles were bottled for the USA (since the label includes the importer's information), whereas my 2008 and your 2010 were bottled for Europe?
Interesting indeed. I think you are probably right regarding the backlabel with the importer's information. And perhaps they ran out of flared bottles after the first bottling (on their website it still is a picture of the flared bottle). I will patiently await the reply from the producer regarding my enquiry.
Are the two bottles the same diameter on the bottom? I ask as sometimes retailers/importers don't want odd shaped bottles for wine as they don't fit on the standard shelves. I know this was an issue when Graham's switched to their new clear bottles. Initially, they only imported to the states the 20/30/40 in the wider clear bottles. The 10 year remained the old bottle here in the States as retailers didn't want the wider one. That didn't last long, maybe a couple years at most, then they forced the switch.
The bottles are the same diameter, so the flared base on that bottle makes it "not fit" very well in a stack. It's fine in an individual slot or rack, but like with Kopke's bottles the flare causes problems when you have to stack the bottles.

The one potential knock against Vesuvio Capela is that it doesn't seem to be as much of a super cuvee as Graham's Stone Terraces or Vargellas Vinha Velha. Rather, it's just a unique and relatively rare wine made from a specific plot (or set of plots, I can't remember whether or not it is actually a single plot) that reflects the terroir and conditions of the year.
But for $100 each, I'd get them. That seems like a very good price to me... as noted, I'd expect them to be closer to $150 each even for the 2007.

Going back to basics for a brief moment to see what kind of quality you can get for 10$. Also my mother enjoy simply tawny, so she will inherit these after I semi blindtaste them.
Dalva Tawny
Niepoort Tawny
Fonseca Tawny
Ferreira Tawny Reserva
I further more bought for the Christmas period for myself and family and friends.
10 YO Dalva Tawny
20YO Fonseca Tawny
10YO Blackett White Tawny

Upcoming Taylor tasting in the club. I really look forward to taste the 2011 which I have never had before. The 88 intrigues me as well.

From Trader Joe's
2 x 2015 Dows LBV...got it cheaper that Noval Black! Haven't had a Dows LBV in awhile, when first starting my Port adventure Dows LBVs were a staple so I'm thrilled to have them for casual consumption.

My TJ's stopped carrying Quarles Harris and most other Ports.

Now it's just Porto Morgado. Today, for the first time, they had a few bottles of a 10 Yr Tawny Morgado for $11. Not bad, I posted a TN on it.

Our Costco was carrying it for many years and may still carry it. I bought so much of the '05 and '07, I don't ever want to see another bottle! They were giving away the Crasto LBV for a short run too.

This is going to be a fun one, because it was bottled in 1972. So 38 years in wood followed by 48 years in bottle!
