Speaking of 1997, I just popped a 1997 Quinta do Noval Colheita bottled in 2011. Dorene was thirsty and I figured a glass would do me some good right about now.

A true rarity..
1966 Cockburn VP, along with a '67 for comparison.
A slightly lighter and fruitier wine than the '67, but very elegant..
Surprised they didn't declare it!

I agree that the 1966 Cockburn was eminently declarable - I was in the minority preferring the 1967.
And my contribution to last night's get-together was a Graham 1945.

A very generous pull, Alex. Glad to hear your bottle wowed the crowd!
I just opened a 2005 Quinta do Noval LBV (Unfiltered) earlier tonight. It is quite good but I think it will be quite a bit better in the next day or two or three.

1950 Moreira Colheita. Nice the first night (92?), and I'm looking forward to it again tonight.

I had a rare day off work and hung out with friends at a local wine store/bar, then dinner. The store had a 1997 Kopke Colheita (b.2009) so I bought it to share with everyone. I'll get a TN up later.

I very much enjoy this ruby--like the 2003 LBV, too. Has a short after taste (wish I had kept better notes--but its on my radar to get more). I scored a 91. A good alternative to Bin 27 or Six Grapes.

Early this week (Sunday late) or late week depending on how one looks at it..., 1997 Quinta do Noval VP. Decanted for 4 hours. 1st sip out of the bottle, not much strong fruit, tasted dryer than I expected vs. 2003 QdN. After 2 hours MUCH better, then after 4, VERY good but still not as fruitful as the 2003 IMHO.
This evening, 2007 Angelica Port (Trentadue Winery) with Don Pablo Corona Sweet Cigar. Yum.

I opened one of several unlabeled bottles that I purchased earlier this year. Somewhat risky, but relatively inexpensive. Until opening this afternoon, I had not noticed that someone had written "1963 Croft" on a sticker attached at the bottom of the bottle. However, the cork indicated differently. It split when I pulled it, but the first 2/3 of the cork clearly says "Taylor" and the second 1/3 has a fairly clear "7" on it. So, I am assuming it was a 1970 or 1977 Taylor. In any case, definitely not a 1963 Croft.

Friday night at 6:00pm West Coast time opened 375ml bottle of QdN 2003 VP into decanter. 9:35pm just poured with yet another Don Pablo Corona sweet Ceeegar! Life just does not get much better than this.
