It took a while for me to want Port again after returning from Portugal, but I have finally opened a bottle - S. Leonardo 30 Year Old Tawny Port.

Sounds awesome! Do you make the baklava or do you get it somewhere?

Given what you were drinking in Portugal that’s a great bottle to start to get back to Port drinking.

I opened a bottle of Churchill 1985 on Tuesday (it’s now Thursday). It was a little spoiled by unbalanced VA on Tuesday but that seems to have faded today and it’s much more enjoyable. I’m glad I didn’t pour it down the sink.

Quevedo 10 year Tawny Port. A wonderful 10
Yr.
Cockburn’s white (my house port-tonic or with other mixers). A very nice white port.

This one was not drunk on the job
On 2 days, even if I prefer the recent bottling of 1992 this 1994 is a great Colheita from Quevedo. Bottled in July 2021, it is really showing the generosity of the year and the fresh young character specific to Quevedo Ports. Yummy!

It is a lovely colheita but like you I prefer the 1992. I just love that little flash of grapefruit bitterness on the finish of the 1992.

I opened a bottle of Vargellas 1967, bottled (in Oporto) in 1970, this evening. It's a delicious bottle, drinking extremely well tonight.

Quevedo Crusted, bottled 2016.
Still primary, starting to soften. Too easy to drink!

A tale of two bottles. Some are spirity and overtly minty, as the fruit has faded leaving a weak impression. I've had several like this over the years. But the one's that were stored really well, are fantastic mature VPs with gorgeous fruit. I am glad you definitely had the latter. When they are on, they are really memorable. Like Vargellas 1987 and 1991 will be someday.

1970 Niepoort Colheita last night. Some initial VA; how much depends bottle to bottle with this port. Will finish the bottle tonight.

1997 Niepoort VP (375 mL) (11/9/21)
Faulty with tremendous VA; it's a shame, as I can tell that it has great underlying structure and fruit.
