Yes indeed. That was why I followed up my own posting, but perhaps I should have been more clear. For a good while I've wanted to get a case of 1994 Taylor. This wasn't a case of that, but an opportunity I decided I couldn't pass up.David Spriggs wrote:Did you win these at Christies?Eric Menchen wrote: 1x 1955 Taylor

JJ buckley/winecommune is notorious for "losing" things after you have won them at auction. Which is one of the reasons I stopped doing business with them a few years ago. To many headaches...Eric Menchen wrote:I'm considering this, but this wasn't my first less than ideal experience, and I'm suspicious of what happened to the Niepoort.Derek T. wrote:If you are otherwise happy with their service perhaps you should put this one down to experience and give them a chance to redeem themselves?

All left on premises for the Gang of Port; gotta hold up my end.

Well, these are sort of my stand-by tawnies since Warre quit making Nimrod. They are quite a bit more expensive than the Nimrod (usually around $30-31), but they seem to be the closest (and the most available) from my usual source for wines.David Spriggs wrote:Peter... I have an arrangement with our favorite restaurant where myself and another friend (and occasional others) buy different ports through their wine department and leave them behind the bar with a piece of masking tape on the bottle reading "Gang of Port". Any of us (or really, anyone who knows of the arrangement - Roy invoked it once when he was drifting through town) can ask for one or more of the bottles and a glass, and pour their own, as much or as little as they like, and return the bottles to the bar when done. Anyone who took advantage of this regularly would be expected to contribute to the pool, but since Mike and I are port proselytizers as well as port drinkers, we don't mind if friends passing by have a glass or two.
Even better, if any FTLOP member happens to be in the Ann Arbor, MI area, Mike and I would be glad to share a meal and drink some port with you. I check my messages on FTLOP fairly regularly, so give me a shout if you will be nearby. (Seriously Italian food at this place.)

David, where did you pick up the Grahams? I'm curious now they look and what bottling they are, as I've been looking for a couple of these myself. Thanks!David Spriggs wrote:6 x 1966 Grahams

Purchased in the UK with several other ports. These are some of the nicest looking bottles I've seen in a while. English bottled by Justerini & Brooks.
