Good for you. But the 3 Centuries is a big gun to me. I need to try that some time.
Yes, that definitely counts as a big gun. But from what Phyllis and Carl told me the last time they were up here, they do have some bigger guns in their arsenal.

Glad to hear the tasting went well!

This weekend I opened and consumed:

1983 Gould Campbell VP
1970 Taylor's VP
20 year old Niepoort Tawny
1998 Niepoort Colheita

A great Terrantez, but that doesn't quite count.

I opened a bottle of Quinta do Noval 1963 as part of a small Noval tasting yesterday. It was nice, but not as good as the wines from the '50s.

1976 Krohn Colheita. The time had come to crack open one of these bad boys...

I had the Vieira de Sousa 10 year Tawny last night (read about it in the newsletter and found it in a supermarket): very good!

I realize it is merely a youngster, but my daughter grabbed a 1983 Dow from the cellar and decanted it today. I was going to open a 1976 Krohn in deference to 1776 today, but I'll have to save it for a rainy day.

Did she get to choose the wine?

She has good tastes, it's drinking quite nicely at the moment.

As for me, nothing :( as I am working today. Apparently my city is broke, yet they are spending tens of thousands on a band, festivities, and a fireworks show tonight  [foilhat.gif]

I had to choose between a 1976 Krohn, a 1976 Noval, and a NV Sandeman 30-yr old Tawny to share with friends. We ultimately chose the Sandeman, electing to save the Krohn and Noval for more significant 4ths.

More so, I think it was just a random grab. She is not well versed in producer names or vintages ... yet. [shok.gif]

I'd have thought she'd pick her namesake!

She gets to open/try lots of Taylor bottles but that gets tiresome. She liked that label on the Dow, or so I was told.

Last night the Dow was polished off and I opened a Vista Alegra 30 year old Tawny Port. Nice juice!

Decanted a 1977 Gould Campbell VP for after dinner tonight. Observations:
  1. "BOTTLED AND SHIPPED BY Smith, Woodhouse & Ca. Lda."
  2. Probably the original retail price tag is on the bottle, $14.75

My most recent 1985 Gould Campbell said the same thing on the label.
