According to the

rule book , a large hammer is only used for a magnum .

He didn't specify the size, so given his difficulty I figured it was a larger than normal cork giving him trouble

But the weather's just gone cool and wet again, so sitting in the wine chiller alongside the Ferreira Branco is a decanter of 1989 Peatling's Crusted Port (Peatling's being a UK wine merchant, the port being produced for them by Warre).

In addition to several Douro wines I opened a 1963 Offley Boa Vista Vintage Port that was fantastic. Someone else opened a 1963 Niepoort Colheita (B. 1986) that was also very good. There was also about 10 other wines poured blind and it was educational trying my hand at guessing what was what....a fun night for sure.
