Roy, how did it show?

I got a bottle as a wedding gift (a v thoughtful one). Although I am not planning on opening it any time soon (am not sure if i'll be able to hold off till our 25th anniversary either), am curious to hear how it is showing!

I am holding out for Sunday night to compare/contrast Fonseca 1985 and Vargellas 1987, two of my favorite Ports of the decade.

Have opened a few in the last week or so:
- 2008 Bogle Petite Sirah Port; very inexpensive & very, very nice! Not in the Fonseca mold (my personal fave), but a good drink
- 2005 Marks&Spencer LBV Port; Don't laugh! This was a really nice drink too ... and inexpensive.
- 1989 Qunita do Vesuvio VP; had to open it, as seepage had started. Glad I did - delicious, VERY fruity, rich, perfectly clear

A half bottle of Cockburn 1955 (at an offline on Jan 3 where we only drank Cockburn 1955) and a bottle of Cockburn Special Reserve - I really do like the new blend.

Consumed over the course of three days (last glass yesterday).
In my opinion fully mature, and very nice for drinking now (and the coming say 5? years ahead). Not spectacular bot very enjoyable.

1941 Quinta do Noval Colheita. Available by the glass in a very nice restaurant in Boston. Absolutely stupendous wine.

What restaurant was it, if you can divulge?
We will be going up to Boston for a reunion in late May. Might be worth trying to sell that restaurant to the wife as a good place to have dinner w friends!

Miguel, I will be back in Boston in February, and am hoping for an encore. [beg.gif] I would be happy to disclose the restaurant after that visit! [cheers.gif]

Steve, do you remember your very first time having the 1941 Quinta do Noval Colheita that blew us away?

Roy, I certainly do! And I still appreciate the fact that you brought that bottle back to the source to be enjoyed by the lucky participants of the 2010 Fortification Tour. [notworthy.gif]

The setting was not nearly as magical in Boston, but the wine was just as great the second time around. If I ever see a bottle for sale, I will be all over it. [beg.gif]

1992 Taylor decanted at 9:30 p.m. MST, to be followed by a 1985, 1977, 1970, and 1955, for consumption tomorrow night. Hopefully Roy's brother has or will soon decant the 2000.
