Barros 2005 lbv
Tasted on july 1 2010

Pretty dark red colour.
Upper medium concentration with good body
Cherry and dark-red fruit. Some raspberry?
Noticable, smooth, dark tannins
Medium to good finish.
Like it
Unfortunately way too much heat, from nose to palate.

Hi Sebastian;

How long did you let this breathe before you tasted? I Usually prefer LBV with at least 4 hours of air time--sometimes longer.

Thanks!

John

I tasted this directly after opening, and during maybe the three or four following hours. The note i wrote down comes from that whole time-window.
Also i tasted from what was left in bottle the following day.
I cant say i noticed much difference at all, not from three hours of air, and not from a whole day of air.
The heat was still there, and the palate was pretty much consistent.

Was this a filtered or unfiltered LBV?

I think it was filtered - I never noticed anything indicating different. and it doesnt say on the bottle that it is unfiltered. However it says on the back on the bottle that "port is a natural wine thus subject to throw a deposit when ageing".
