:ftlop: turns 6 years old on July 30th which just happens to be a Saturday this year. [yahoo.gif] If you are able to join us for the celebration, please let us know right here in the thread.

The number of guests coming, will determine where we are going to hold the party, so please let us know! [cheers.gif]

13. Roy Hersh

I will keep the list open until June 26th. At that time, I'll check back for those undecided/tentative to see if they will be able to join us. The finalized venue will be announced at least 3 weeks in advance, as a few are in consideration at this time.

As to the theme, it has been suggested that there be enough time for people to source a bottle if they'd like. There's virtually seven weeks at this point prior to the event. The http://www.winesearcher.com website is a great resource for finding bottles to fit the theme. If you have any question about a bottle, retailer, price, producer, vintage, etc. ... please feel free to email me. If you are from out of town (or from Canada) and would like to have your bottle shipped here prior to the event, it likely will cost less than paying for a checked bag, if from a US retailer. I will be able to handle the decanting for you as well, as traveling makes this far more difficult the day of the party.

There will be 3-4 flights of FORTIFIED wines and you can bring any one of the following:

a. Vintage Ports 1970 and older from a fine producer - if you'd like clarification ... please send me an email [friends.gif]
b. Colheitas 1966 and older from one of the usual suspects
c. Madeira bottlings 1912 and older :yumyum:

Please send me an email when you decide what you'd like to bring so we have time to avoid duplications. :thanks:

No kidding. Heck, I can't even find someone to drink my port, never mind showing up with their own bottles in the city!

Just curious; is this a Port event only, or is Madeira also included? [beg.gif]

Hi Steve,

I am pretty sure there will be a bottle or two of Madeira introduced somewhere along the way.

I'd be interested, I just don't have much of a collection. Although, I did see a bunch of colheitas and vintages at the Shoreline Central Market. Also some older colheitas at the Edmonds wine place downtown.

Please put me (tentatively) on the list as well. [cheers.gif]

Oh, and will there be a need for dessert at this party? I might be able to help out with that...

I saw from one of Roy's FB posts that you're training a new Sous Chef/Cake Decorator!

I know this probably isn't for everybody, but would people be interested in having some cigars? I can pick up some from "an island" not too far from here for us to try. As for smoking them I would recommend them for the end along with some tawny or madeira so that they don't affect the wine.

I fully understand if there aren't enough people interested, but I figured I would put it out there.
