NY's next great food market

I used to make daily trips down to the Fulton Street fish market before Fed. Prosecutor Rudy Guiliani took down John Gotti, who's Gambino crime family ruthlessly controlled everything there and coerced vendors and buyers alike for ages. Having been a buyer for a restaurant in NYC in the early-mid 1980's, I remember the good, the bad and the ugly ... re: daily dealings with mafia inflated price fixing at the market. It was mostly a very safe place, except for the bodies that turned up there in freezer trucks every once in awhile.
