I don't suppose anyone fancies sharing the 5 botles of this for sale at Christies Paris on 29 November?

Looks like the bottles would cost GBP200 each. I've never shipped from Paris so no idea of cost and how that works.

There's also another Noval 31 there.

Except for that Noval, looks like wine is cheaper over there (even the Bordeaux! )

Stuart,

Is there much information about the condition of the bottles? I would take 1 if they are in good nick. Also, does it say when they were bottled (or is the correct term "decanted")?

No, just the old cliche "base of neck or better". Slightly damaged labels  (That means v. good labels for that age, or maybe replacements.) From a private collection.

Considering my zero experience of buying in France may be best left alone. If they were in England I'd phone up and ask for more info.

No problem, Stuart. Although, from what I witnessed in Portugal last month Mr Bridgeman is fluent in a multitude of European languages so may wish to pursue this enquiry on behalf of the Forumites.

Stuart,

I agree with Derek. Don't give up on bottles of this age, so easily. In another decade or two, all of these oldies will be just memories as more Port lovers are born. Grab 'em as I am sure you'll find worthy homes amongst the Forumites!

If the quote for shipping was over the odds, one could always grab an Easyjet from Luton and pick them up in person...

In principal, I'd be game for a bottle or two (but not more)
