While the restaurants keep up a demand for half bottles, magnums seem to be fading into history.

Has anyone got a jeroboam in their cellar??

Never even seen anything bigger than a magnum of port.

I do have mags and while not opened often, I think an offline is a great place for port magnums.

I've seen a double magnum in Croft's cellar but I don't think they sell it, must be kept for the company's diner.

WOW! a double magnum of port...now that would be a great evening with lots of friends.

So, how much longer would a double magnum have to age, compared to a regular size bottle?? any guesses or experiences?

In the USA, due to the size and % of alcohol, it is illegal to sell formats of Port that are larger than 1.5 ml bottles. I have seen "tappet hens" and other odd sized bottles including 5 liter bottles in the offices at Graham's.

I have one double Magnum of Port in my collection and will wait for a very special occasion to open it. I do have a good amount of older Mags (mostly 1977-1966) with the oldest going back to a very rare Mag from 1935.

I like magnums...and have a few in the cellar. The biggest VP bottles I ever saw were 5 or 6 liter bottles at the Vintage House hotel in Pinhão: Taylor '77 and Graham '94 I believe...
