I'm going to drink my only bottle of 1980 Graham's on Thursday evening. When should I decant it?

I've drank plenty of this vintage. Grahams did not miss a beat in the 80's for VP. 8+ hours as Glenn said would be ideal. You should have a "taster's choice" every couple of hours to see how the port evolves for yourself. Should get a few distinct profiles within that time.Glenn E. wrote:Hi Steve,yso191 wrote:I'm going to drink my only bottle of 1980 Graham's on Thursday evening. When should I decant it?

Welcome to FTLOP! I think you've come to the right place.![]()
The 1980 Graham is a really great Port. It will drink nicely with little or no decant, but if you want it to really shine I recommend giving it at least 6 hours in a decanter and 8 would be even better.
If that timing doesn't work due to work, etc, then I suggest that you decant it as soon as you get up in the morning and let it sit in the decanter while you get ready for work. Then pour it back into the (rinsed and preferably dried) bottle and put it in the fridge during the day. As soon as you get home, pour it back into the decanter and leave it on the counter until you are ready to drink it.
Enjoy!
P.S. I've sent you a PM as well
