"The Dirk" will be in the house this Thursday, May 29th from 6-8 p.m., and he’s going to bring a selection of top-quality Portuguese wines. So call everyone you know and tell them you can’t hang out unless it’s with Dirk at Solano Cellars.

Dirk Niepoort is the globetrotting frizzy-haired polymath who is making all kinds of crazy wines in the Douro, the river valley for which Portugal is most famous. Red wines? Mastered it. White wines? Nobody in the country is even close. His selection of vintage and non-vintage ports? Don’t make him have to embarrass you with a bottle of ’99 Colheita. He’s been known to do worse.
