Recently came across this unopened bottle of port at an estate sale. Tried to research, but could not find anything. My guess just by the looks of the bottle is that this is maybe from the 1930's or 1940's.
Bottle has a woven basket cover around it, on the label it reads "Rare Superior Tawny" Shipped by A. Pinto dos Santos Jr, & Ca. Ltda. Porto. Imported by Robinson-Lloyds Ltd.-62 West 47th St. New York.
Alcoholic strength20% by volume.
There are remnants of an Illinois tax stamp on the bottle, can't make out a year though.
Any information is appreciated.

Found out that based on the tax stamp this should date around 1942.

That would have been smack dab in the middle of WW2. There wasn't much Port being shipped during the war for obvious reasons, and even less vintage Port was sent abroad during the war. While I am not familiar with this particular Port, based on the name and label (and if the tax stamp age is correct) I would suspect it is a more basic non-vintage Tawny Port.
If that is the case, given how long it has been in bottle I would not hold out hope it's in superior condition anymore. Then again, one is always surprised at how well Port can last sometimes. If it is a more basic Tawny, the value would be pretty low.

Yes, my reaction is that this has more interesting historical value than value as a great tasting wine, and I don't see it fetching much on the auction market as a great tasting wine either.

May not taste great, probably not worth a ton, but wow, what a cool find!
