Niepoort 1970

This is my first post after discovering this website, and I thought I'd start by asking a question (at least in doing so I hope to get some replies!). I've enjoyed plenty of hangovers caused by 1970 ports before, but never have had one as the result of an old Niepoort. I've bought a 1970 in a little dumpy bottle, and while the taster in me says "include it as part off a 1970 horizontal', the port lover in me says 'crack it open and enjoy'. If anyone has tried it recently, can they answer this question:
What should I do?

Hi, and welcome!

This is a great port that deserves to be tasted on its own, IMO. I've tasted it recently, you can find my TN here. Enjoy!

Peter,

Welcome to the forum, glad to have you here.

I've only had the Niepoort 1970 Colheita before and if that is any indication of what the VP is like, then you are in for a real treat. I would agree with Ronnie, drink it on its own and enjoy it over a long evening.

Hi Peter,

I've enjoyed our exchange so far and am glad you have actually joined us here on the Forum where I believe you will now spend a few hours a week. :D

The 1970 Niepoort is super stuff, just drinking beautifully today. I have only seen the short squat bottles and only recently learned from the guys here that there was a regular shaped bottle also released. All of the one's I've ever seen in the USA whether at tastings or brought over by Dirk, in addition to the one's I have had in Portugal and seen in the Niepoort cellar are the small and wide ones.

Anyway, you are gonna love this stuff ... both this Forum and the '70 Niepoort. Hope you'll add your great knowledge to our friendly community!

THANKS
