Does anybody have notes on the Ferreira 1994 or the Quinta do Roeda 1980 & 1995? My local shoppe has a few of these pretty cheap. Thanks!

I've tasted twice the Roeda 1983 and from what I read on the internet, it is an early maturing port. It was good in 2000 but already on the decline in 2003. Unless it was a success in 1980 it could already be on the downhill.
The 1995 Roeda could be interesting if you want to drink something while waiting for the great VP of the 1994 vintage like the Ferreira which I would not hesitate to buy.

Thanks, Fred. The Ferreira was the best deal, too ($35). I'll pick up a few bottles. Thanks again.

I had the 1980 Roeda recently (in May) and here are my notes:
Croft Quinta da Roeda 1980 Vintage Port
Medium red in color with an amber-rose rim and good clarity. Fragrant of smoke, some pepper and hints of red fruit. Moderate acidity with no appreciable tannins, low to moderate sweetness, with considerable smoke flavors as well as some red fruit ending rather alcoholic with a short finish. Fair, this is a wine that is past its prime but still has a little life in it, I just wouldn’t wait any longer. 72/100
I hope this helps in your buying decision, the '95 Roeda and the '94 Ferreira should be better bets.
