For The Love Of Port

I do not have a lot, which is a mistake, since it is definitely something you have to cellar for a long time and you need to get ahead of the curve. I have been working on building up the collection, but I've lost out on a few good auction bids by getting spiked at the last minute. I only have about 20 bottles, less than 3%.

I'm slightly ahead of you at 4.5%, but from your numbers, your cellar is also bigger than mine as that 4.5% is only 8 bottles.

My cellar is about 80% Portuguese (mostly Port with more and more Portuguese dry wines being added to the mix)

Port represents 13% of my cellar by quantity and approx. 20% by value. The rest of my cellar is :

The total is 286 bottles of which 68 (mostly port and sauterne) are 375ml. The tokaji are all 500ml. The percentage of madeira is growing.

98% yup niney-eight percent not including the mead (honey) wine that I produce myself

100% although I could see down the road collecting other wines. I picked port to collect because I've always enjoyed it and it manageable with relavtively few producer.

The other wines I buy tend to be "value" wines that get drunk pretty quickly.

22% of my cellar is Port. I'd like to get it up a little higher, maybe around 30% - 35% so I can open bottles more frequently and still have something with a good amount of age on it.

I'm travelling in the "Lower 48" right now on the way to Finger Lakes wine region in NY tomorrow....so from memory, roughly:

40-some % 135 bottles of Port (including Madeira) out of 300 total bottles

port represents approximately 20% of my wine cellar. i've got about 220 bottles, the majority of the rest of my collection are california reds, italian reds, and bordeaux. i've also got a bunch of muscats, tokays, tokaji, and i'm really beginning to love old sauternes. but vintage port reigns supreme.

From memory, about 20%.
Now I wish that 20% was skewed more towards the 80s and before than the 90s and 2000s, although I bought relatively heavily in 2000 (birth year) and 2003 (can't help myself). 2004 will be "a few cases" as well as it's a birthyear too

Maybe about 40-50% port. I think I have about 10 or so cases of port? I should track it, but sometimes ignorance is bliss. One day I walk into the basement and just see a ton of wine and port stacked up...

I dont like red wine, too acid for me (or maybe i just have to learn to drink it).
Rosé is for girls and white wine is not my cup of tea either.
