This was bought by the glass and drunk on 31 Oct 2005.

Colour was that of bruised victoria plums, deep rich red centre but starting to brown at the rim.

Nose was well developed, distinctly noticeable as the glass was brought to the table. Peppery, spicy notes reminding me of a 10 year old new world shiraz that I drank recently. Behind this was a dusty / ashy structure supporting lots of strawberry jam and damson jelly. A slight hint of VA which did not detract from the wine itself.

Very smooth and surprisingly sweet in the mouth, bringing dust with sweet all spice and pumpkins with strawberry syrup. The acidic backbone came through on the mid-palate and the tannins just peeked through. The longer it was held in the mouth the more starwberry jam appeared. Pretty good length. I'd give this around 89/100 and an "mmmmm" rating. Very pleasant.

What surprised me was how undeveloped this was and how much primary characteristics were still showing. In my mind, this bottle still had potential to develop and improve further.

Great notes.I have several bottles of the 85 Ferreria left and my expereience has always been similar to yours along with your rating. RParker says this is house is always underrated. I think he underrates it with his numbers.
He gave the 85 an 84 when last tasted and an 86 before that.

I give it 88-90 and I think it has many years left.
