Quarles Harris 94&11

Post by N Bizall »

I've recently seen these at Trader Joes for $40 a piece. I understand these were good years and seems almost too good to be true. Anybody try these yet?

Yes there should be tasting notes in the TNDB (click on the yellow bar to the top left)

I've bought and drunk both from Trader Joe's, and they're excellent deals for $40. Most TJ's no longer have the '94, so if yours does I highly recommend buying out everything they have left! I did that at the one near my parents' house in Kansas City over Thanksgiving. :)

$40 for the 94 vintage sounds like an excellent deal. Well worth stocking up at that price.

I scooped up a 94 last weekend. Im waiting for a good occasion to drink it and I've never decanted a wine before so I want to do it properly. Seems to me like decanting is somewhat of a Japanese tea ceremony on this forum.
In my neck of the woods there is plenty of 94/11 Quarles Harris at Trader Joes. I can't believe they're not moving.

Decanting's easy and often people get scared by the thought of it. Get a very fine metal mesh filter or use some clean unbleached cheesecloth. Stand bottle upright for a bit (overnight or an hour before). Pour through filter/cheesecloth into decanter. Enjoy [cheers.gif]

And if you don't have a fine metal mesh filter or unbleached cheesecloth, just buy a plastic food funnel and some unbleached coffee filter paper from a supermarket and use those.

Do make sure the coffee filter paper is unbleached though!
