2014 - Who made the harvest before the rain

My daughter was born in 2014 and because of that im planning on getting a case from this year when they hit the market next year.

I know 2014 was a mixed harvest because of heavy rain but what producers got a decent harvest?

If Fonaeca released a 2014 Sinlgle quinta i would buy this in a heartbeat but when did they harvest the grapes?

All i can seem to find is an article about grahams having a okay harvest in 2014.

Hoping for enlightenment

Intresting question, i don't know the answer.
But declaring single quinta also has to do with suply and demand. With a Fonseca 2012 and 2013 on the market now, 2014 maybe to much?

You aren't going to see to many 2014 VP's except from Single Quinta's mostly, IMO. There isn't a hurry as they should be hitting the shelves by now or very soon, depending on the producer. Then again, if it's Malvedos they typically hold back for about 10 years then release it. So they will do about 1/2 the aging for you...pretty good deal IMO for a well priced and generally very good SQVP.

Get in touch with Oscar Quevedo (website: quevedoportwine.com)

He's a really nice guy and a very competant wine and port maker, who also has a 2014 baby's head to wet, IIRC. He also got his best grapes in before the weather broke last year.

I'm sure if you explain your reason, he'll be delighted to oblige, although under the vintage port bottling rules, he won't be able to deliver before next year.

Actually, the 2014s will NOT be hitting shelves until the spring of 2016 at the very earliest and definitely not now or very soon.
