A THANKSGIVING NOTE (not the holiday) FOR FTLOP PARTICIPANTS

Before I get to the crux of this post, I first would like to take a moment to thank STEWART TODD, who is the brains behind putting this website together. I just supplied ideas, basic design elements and content. That was the easy part. He did all of the hard work and put together what has become a very successful website here. The Forum is what brings ppl back here and keeps the interest, but there is also the articles, newsletters and tasting notes archives. He has worked tirelessly to integrate my TNs with the CellerTracker data base, which is coming to fruition very shortly. Stewart you KNOW how much I appreciate your hard work and brilliance. The nicest compliment I can give you Stewart is that in Portugal, the common theme was, "your website is so easy to navigate." Of course, you deserve ALL the credit for that!

My Travel Biz partner Mario, also deserves my thanks. He helped to coordinate what is one of the greatest trips I have ever been a part of and that includes all of the vacations and wine visits I have ever done. I am very excited about our partnership and the many trips yet to come. I think those in the UK who got to meet Mario in person too, realize what a great guy and asset he is!

The greatest compliment that I can give you, the participants of this Forum, (the driving force of the website) is that EVERY SINGLE Port (and Madeira) producer that I visited during my two weeks in Portugal ... has been a "lurker" here on the FTLOP, had seen the site and almost every one had visited the Forum at least once. They realize what it is that we have here. An exclusive group of Port and Madeira (and Douro wine) enthusiasts from around the globe. They are impressed with the activity level and also the strong opinions voiced here.

By the way, the FTLOP website is not even 4 months old yet.

For a small niche player like Port, and all the dozens of Port websites I have visited over the past ten years of surfing everything Port .... this is a unique place to visit. Of course I am biased, yet this is not meant to be tooting my own horn here. I am celebrating the success that YOU ... the participants, both posters and lurkers, have created. It is your interest and passion and desire to show up that have made this an overwhelmingly fun place, in such a short period of time. I remember whining in the first two weeks, hoping it was going to take off. A few of the very early birds on this Forum, told me "to relax" and you guys and gals were right. Thanks to all of you. I hope to meet many more of you over the years to come and share some fun tastings and get to thank you in person!

Sincerely, Roy

Roy,

I would also echo the thanks to Stewart. I have exchanged emails with him once or twice and always wonder how he (and you) are able to keep on top of all the many messages that he receives.

Stewart - you have done a fantastic job and deserve all our thanks. If ever you travel to the UK, be sure to post on the forum and then watch all the invitiations arrive for you.

Alex
