TN: 2010 Quinta do Crasto Tinta Roriz Douro red

After “trial-years” 1997, 1999 and 2003, the Crasto Tinta Roriz has been produced every year as from 2009 and at least up to 2015.
18 months in new French oak barrels 225 liters. Foot trodden. Bottled unfiltered July 2012.
Plenty sediments. Decanted 3 hrs (will probably benefit longer decanting period). Dark purple colour. Intense and attractive aroma of especially berries. Full body. Powerful and also quite elegant. A lot of berries (some with high acidity like currant) and also minerals/schist. A quite tough Douro red which we considered as well-structured. Balance acidity/sweetness is OK, although acidity is on the borderline. Long aftertaste. 91 pts.
