2003 Quevedo Colheita Cask (2022)
Day 4 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar
Color: dark bing cherry red and some faint purple. Does not look like a tawny.
Nose: dust, some caramelized ripe raspberries, maybe some very faint vanilla. Less intense than Burgundy Barrel, and as with the 2013 pairing this Cask version's nose seems somehow colder.
Palate: mellow purple fruit like ripe mulberries, decent tannins, some caramel-like roundness on the sides of the tongue. Presents sweeter than the Burgundy Barrel, probably due to a lack of any slight sour note. Also unique similarly to the Burgundy Barrel version. Also nothing like a 20 year old Tawny.
Score: 92 points. The gap between this pair was less significant, but I did again prefer the other (Burgundy Barrel) version.
Note: apparently there are videos that I should have been watching! I'll catch up with those, update the 4 notes I've do so far if needed, and then proceed with the rest of the calendar.
