Quevedo Organic Reserve Ruby Port (no bottling date on bottle)

Day 11 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar

Color: inky dark magenta, 2 pens (about 1/2") of transparency at the rim but otherwise completely opaque.

Nose: pure grape, bright purple berries, something green, a very faint soft soapy overtone, and something like sweet turpentine or varnish.

Palate: initial impression is rich, deep, and luscious. Good tannins. Med full body to start but then loses body to just medium. Medium sweet. Purple berries, slight stemmy/bitter note, chocolate, blueberry pie filling. Mid and late palate are less impressive. Finish is a bit weak other than good tannic grip. Later in the finish there's a note of prickly pear. Kind of one-note overall, but it's a good note.

Score: 89 points. Initial impression is higher - like a good LBV - but the fall-off costs it points.
