Quevedo 10 Year Old White Port (bottled 2022)

Day 20 of the 2022 Quevedo Prestige Advent Calendar

Color: rich honey... apricot? There's a definite orangish or light reddish tint to the honey color.

Nose: sweet pineapple, honey, yellow cake mix.

Palate: creamy and rich, decent acidity, decent sugar, but not a lot of fruit flavors. Maybe some mango, some rich partially caramelized palm sugar, some faint peach, and some pear. I could use both a little bit more sugar and a little bit more acidity in order to "turn it up a notch", but it's nicely balanced where it is.

Score: 92 points. It's not super complex, but it's really tasty. I've found that this category (10 year old whites) is one that really tends to fit my style, and this Port is just another example of that. I'd wager that this would pair well with most food, right up to where most wine people would be looking for a robust red.

Side note: I did in fact skip a day to taste this 1 day late, because I'm planning to skip another day and then taste all of the 30 Year Old Whites together on 12/23. They seem like they'd make a nice mini-tasting to compare and contrast with each other. I'll be adding a 375 ml bottle of the retail 30 Year Old White to that tasting, too, just to see what changes are evident in the 4 special blends.
